Aveeno Baby Body Wash and Sunscreen for Face

Hey guys!

I'm going to write a review of two Aveeno baby products: body wash and sunscreen for face.
These products were provided by Aveeno and iHerb free of charge for my honest review.

Aveeno Baby Cleansing Therapy Moisturizing Wash and Aveeno Baby Face Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Aveeno Baby Cleansing Therapy Moisturizing Wash (Fragrance Free)

I was a little bit surprised when I squeezed this product out of the bottle.
I had thought it would be liquid soap, but it had the consistency of conditioner.
It doesn't lather so much but this doesn't bother me at all.
I didn't notice any smell when I was just using it, but when I directly sniffed the product, I noticed a weird smell, but this doesn't bother me since it's subtle.
I used this as shampoo on my daughter and I felt a comb ran more smoothly through her hair than with the body wash for babies we usually use.
I like that this product is very moisturizing!
I think this product is suitable for babies with dry skin.
It is fragrance free, dye free, and alcohol free.
It has been awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.

Ingredients:
Water, sodium trideceth sulfate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glycerin, sodium lauroamphoacetate, sodium chloride, avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, laureth-2, citric acid, cyamopsis tetragonoloba (guar) gun, ceramide NP, avena sativa (oat) kernel extract, panthenol, sodium benzoate, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride

Aveeno Baby Face Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50
Aveeno Baby Face Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50

This product is about 2.6 inches (6.7 cm) long.
I like this product a lot since it is not greasy and relatively mild ingredients are used.
I have used some baby sunscreens that are very greasy.
Active ingredients are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These are minerals and good ingredients for sunscreens.
It leaves a very subtle white layer on the skin but this doesn't bother me.
It is oil free and fragrance free.
It has been awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.
I highly recommend this product!

Active ingredients:
Titanium Dioxide (8.09%), Zinc Oxide (6.8%)
Inactive ingredients:
C-12-15 alkyl benzoate, octyldodecyl neopentanoate, dimethicone, paraffin, ozokerite, beeswax, phenyl trimethicone, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, polyethylene, polyhydroxystearic acid, dipropylene glycol dibenzoate, triethoxycaprylylsilane, PPG-15 stearyl ether benzoate, caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, BHT

Makeup Brush Basics 2 - Foundation Brush and Eyeliner Brush

Hey girls!

In the previous post, I wrote about the basics of powder brushes, blush brushes, and eyeshadow brushes (part 1 of 2).
I hope it helped your decision of which makeup brushes to get.
makeup brushes
Today, I will talk about foundation brushes and eyeliner brushes (part 2 of 2).
I will explain the basics, and share my story about a wrong usage of a brush, as well.

- Foundation brush

There are multiple types of foundation brushes as well.

1. Classic flat foundation brush
This is usually ideal for liquid or cream foundations and it will give you high coverage.
(Sigma F60, MAC 190 etc.)

2. Kabuki / flat-top brush
Some kabuki brushes' bristles are more dense and ideal for liquid or cream foundations.
Others have more loosely packed bristles and are ideal for powder or mineral foundations.
It's recommended to read the item descriptions of each brush.
Many of the dense bristle ones say it will give you an airbrushed like finish.
(Sigma F84, MAC 196 etc.)

3. Stippling brush
This is usually used when you want to have light coverage.
This can be used for liquid, cream, powder, and mineral foundations.
(Sigma F50, MAC 187 etc.)

Sigma F84
The brush I have is this: Sigma Angled Kabuki - F84.
According to Sigma Beauty, the recommended usage of this brush is for blending cream blush or bronzer onto the skin, but I read many reviews that say this brush is great to apply liquid or cream foundations, so I decided to try this one.
Let me mention that how to use a kabuki foundation brush matters.
For the first couple times I tried this brush, my face looked streaky.
This brush has gotten so many good reviews that say you can apply foundation evenly and nicely.
So, I thought I was doing something wrong, and I was.
I was using the side of the brush to apply foundation and stroking.
Instead, you should use the tip of the brush, stipple firstly and then buff in a circular motion.
After trying this way, I can apply foundation nicely with this brush.
However, l tend to just use my fingers because of easiness most of the time.
I feel I need to wash my foundation brush after each usage since it's used with a cream foundation and may harden if I leave it, although I don't feel that way with the other brushes used for applying powder products.

- Eyeliner brush

If you use pencil eyeliner or liquid eyeliner with bristles, you don't need an eyeliner brush.
If you use gel or cream eyeliner that comes in a pot, you need to use a brush accompanying the product or a separately purchased one.

The brush I have is this: Sigma Eyeliner - E05.
This was given by Sigma Beauty when I bought their other brushes.
This has tapered bristles and is good for creating precise lines.
(Sigma E05, MAC 09 etc.)
I use this for winged eyeliner too, but I imagine it will be easier to use the kind I mention below.

There are eyeliner brushes whose bristles are flat and angled.
This one - Sigma Small Angle Brush E65 - has many good reviews that say this works great for creating winged eyeliner.
(Sigma E65, MAC 266 etc.)

I hope my makeup brush basics posts have given you a good understanding about makeup brushes!
Thanks for reading and have a great day :)

Makeup Brush Basics 1 - Powder Brush, Blush Brush, and Eyeshadow Brush

Hey girls!
Do you use makeup brushes?

makeup brushes
There are so many types of makeup brushes, aren't there?
I want to share what I have learned and my experiences with makeup brushes.
This is part 1 of 2 and it is about powder brushes, blush brushes, and eyeshadow brushes since these three are the most basic makeup brushes.
Part 2 will be about foundation brushes and eyeliner brushes that I'm going to write in the next post.
I will explain the basics, and share my failure story, as well (not about a bad choice of brushes, but about a wrong usage of a brush) using my brushes from Sigma Beauty, since those are what I have and I like their brushes.
I chose Sigma Beauty brushes because they are high quality items and they are not too expensive.
I'll mention some MAC brush numbers too (they are on the expensive side), since it is also one of the brands loved by people who are into makeup.

Now let's begin :)

- Powder brush (Sigma F30, MAC 129 etc.)
sigma large powder brush F30
Sigma F30

You can distribute face powder more evenly with a brush with light touches.
If you use a powder puff, more powder will be applied.

The brush I have is this: Sigma Large Powder - F30.
Let me mention that how to use a powder brush matters.
For a while, I felt "Hmmm. This brush is a bit scratchy..."
This brush has gotten so many good reviews, and they say this brush is soft and fluffy.
So, I thought I was doing something wrong, and I was.
I was stippling over my face.
I was doing so because I didn't want to mess up foundation.
Instead, you should stroke over your face very gently.
After trying this way, it's not scratchy anymore and it feels so comfortable to my skin.

Sigma F40
- Blush brush (Sigma F40, MAC 168 etc.)

You can apply blush with long stroke(s) along the curve of the cheekbone using an appropriate blush brush.
Of course you can layer several long strokes but the key here is you can make long stroke(s).
If you use an accompanying mini brush, you need to apply blush with several small strokes that may lead to uneven application.

The brush I have is this: Sigma Large Angled Contour - F40.
The angled bristles go along the curve of the cheekbone well.

sigma eye shading brush E55
Sigma E55
- Eyeshadow brush

The brush I have is this: Sigma Eye Shading - E55.
I could do my eye makeup with only this brush.
According to Sigma Beauty website, recommended usage of this brush is for placing color across the entire lid for an even and strong application of product.
Not only that, I use it to apply eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye, in the crease, etc.
When I place eyeshadow on the entire lid, I use the side of the brush (flat part), and when I apply eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye and in the crease (outer V of the eye), I use the tip of the brush.

Of course, you can get other different types of eyeshadow brushes to use for more specific parts of your eye makeup.
Actually, many people who are into makeup use at least three different eyeshadow brushes, and I imagine that it's easier this way since bristle sizes are different.

1. Basic application brush (biggest bristles of the three)
This is used to apply eyeshadow all over the lid. (Sigma E55, MAC 239 etc.)

2. Blending brush (middle sized bristles of the three)
This is used to soften harsh lines and edges. (Sigma E25, MAC 217 etc.)

3. Crease / pencil brush (smallest bristles of the three)
This is used to apply color to small areas precisely, such as defining the crease, applying along the lush line, highlighting the inner corner of the eye, etc. (Sigma E30, MAC 219 etc.)
There are even more different kinds of eye makeup brushes such as a smudge brush, but these three are the most basic eyeshadow brushes.
(As a note, a smudge brush is used to apply color onto the upper and lower lash lines. Sigma E21, MAC 214 etc.)

A sponge tip applicator accompanying an eyeshadow is somewhat difficult to use to work on details.
I use it when I want to get my eye makeup done so quickly and make it simple. In this case, I put eyeshadow only at the outer corner of the eye, and don't even put it in the crease.
Also, I sometimes use a sponge tip applicator to apply eyeshadow all over the lid, so that I don't need to wipe my only one eyeshadow brush to use it with a different color for the crease. (In other words, you can use only one eyeshadow brush by wiping it against a wet wipe after using it with each color.

By using appropriate makeup brushes instead of mini applicators accompanying cosmetics, you can apply makeup easier and the result is better.
I really recommend to start with these three brushes if you don't have any currently:
-Powder brush
-Blush brush
-Eyeshadow brush

I will write about the basics of foundation brushes and eyeliner brushes in the next post.
Stay tuned!

Thanks for reading and have a happy new year :)
